About this calculator
Enter what you're paid by the hour, day, week or month and this calculator shows your annual income, plus the same pay expressed every other way.
You can change the hours in your week, the days you work and the weeks you're paid for, so it works for part-time jobs, term-time work and contracts with gaps as well as full-time roles. All figures are before tax.

How it's calculated
- Hourly: annual = hourly pay × hours per week × weeks per year. £20 × 37.5 × 52 = £39,000.
- Daily: annual = day rate × days per week × weeks per year. £300 × 5 × 46 = £69,000.
- Weekly: annual = weekly pay × weeks per year.
- Monthly: annual = monthly pay × 12.
The other figures are found by dividing the annual amount back down: by 12 for a month, by the weeks for a week, then by the days or hours in a week.
Getting the weeks right
The result depends heavily on the number of weeks. Employees on a salary are usually paid for all 52, including holiday. If you're paid only for the weeks you work, such as a contractor or a term-time worker, enter the number of weeks you'll actually be paid for. Ten weeks fewer changes a full-time income by nearly a fifth.
Before tax
These are gross figures: what you earn before income tax, National Insurance, pension contributions or student loan repayments. Your take-home pay will be lower.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert an hourly wage to an annual salary?
Multiply the hourly wage by the hours you work in a week and by the number of weeks you're paid for in a year. £20 × 37.5 × 52 = £39,000.
How do I convert a day rate to an annual income?
Multiply the day rate by the days worked per week and the weeks worked per year. £300 × 5 × 46 = £69,000.
What if I only work part of the year?
Change “weeks worked (paid)” to the number of weeks you'll be paid for. The annual figure and the monthly average adjust automatically.
Is this before or after tax?
Before. It shows gross income only.
Why is the monthly figure not simply the weekly figure × 4?
A year has about 4.33 weeks per month, not 4. Multiplying by 4 would leave out about 8% of your pay. This calculator divides the annual total by 12.
